Trauma can cause damage to blood vessels and consequently, bleeding. In most cases, this is controlled by the formation of a blood clot. However, failure to form a clot can result in prolonged bleeding which can result in life-threatening loss of blood. Prolonged bleeding is fairly obvious to detect, however, in some cases, it can be hidden within the body.
